Avoid these 5 Mistakes
𝟏. Quality over quantity of songs
It becomes virtually impossible to concentrate and focus on one song at a time when you keep creating new song ideas. You become less productive, and your songs never move into the DONE folder.
Please give your full attention to one song you're working with at that time, understand its genre and advance from there.
𝟐. Lack of commitment
The purpose is to advance into a finished, ready-to-release song, so why not commit to the things that sit well and not go back to it, press the bounce in place or commit button and move on.
𝟑. Do what people like
DON'T!
People feel when you are not sincere and genuine. Release what you love because if the song is going to blow up, you will have to live with it, and you want to live happily with the song that you actually love.
Never change your values.
Show your audience you are genuine, and they will feel the pain you are going through or whatever the message of your song will be.
𝟒. No purpose-driven ideas
If you don't have ideas, it's ok but look for ideas in your audience.
Establish whether you see an opportunity to help your audience and be a value to them. Cherish your 50, 100, or 200 followers or friends no matter the size on whichever social platform you use. They are your audience, and some of them are your true fans. They love you because you can give them emotions they can't get anywhere else. Use your audience to connect with them and help them but remember to stay authentic. You just get inspired by your audience, and when the song is done, you inspire them.
𝟓. Focus on the process, not the result
You can always be in the process but move into the done and released state of mind.
As songwriters, producers and engineers, we can talk for hours about the processes, but it's only people who release and get things done succeeding, and some of them never talk about the process.
No one cares about the plugins or products if the song does not serve its initial purpose (I.e. feeling the vibe of the song)
If you are not convinced that your song idea is good, no matter what others say, before you start throwing EQs, Compressors, etc., then you can't convince anyone else.
Avoid these mistakes and watch your journey flourish.
